What Builders Shipped in Two Weeks at the MiniMaxathon

From August 24 to September 6, 2026, builders around the world joined MiniMax Week, powered by GMI Cloud and MiniMax: fourteen days with MiniMax M3, M2.7, Speech 2.8, and Music 3.0 free behind a single GMI API key, H3 at standard pricing, and BYOK support for tools like Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Trae, and OpenCode. Solo builders and teams of up to four picked a track, built inside the window, and closed with three-minute demo videos and a joint GMI-MiniMax vote on model usage, usability, and originality. One winner per track was awarded, each taking home $500 in cash, $200 in GMI Cloud credits, and a three-month MiniMax Token Plan Max.

Three tracks, one goal

Every entry competed in one of three tracks. Reasoning covered agents that hold a plan, coding tools that finish the job, and research assistants that fact-check themselves. Synthesis covered reasoning that drives video, video that feeds reasoning, and agents that direct. Multimodality covered picture and sound as a single output, from generative instruments to music videos that write themselves.

Multimodality: Overhear

A zero-dependency codebase visualizer that turns any repository into an interactive architectural map across six exploration modes, and an M3-powered coding harness implemented the entire app end to end. Builder: Amit Pandey (India). Code

All 18 shortlisted builds, grouped by track. Each cleared the same bar: core generation on MiniMax through GMI Cloud, a documented public repo, a playable demo video, and a project post on X tagging both teams.
